Executive Officer for ODLAA (The Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia) The UNE TLC is the Secretariat for ODLAA.

Member, Australasian Council for Open, Distance and e-learning. (ACODE)

Member, Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education ( ascilite )

UNE representative to the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).

Member, Australian Collaborative Education Network. (ACEN) Also a member of the Reference Group for ACEN.

Expert Assessor for the Carrick Citation Awards, 2006.

Computer Education Research Group (CERG) I was a founding member of the Computer Education Research Group at Monash University.

Climbing Instructors Association (CIA) – I am a rock climbing instructor.

Member of the Senior Common Room of Earle Page College, UNE. I provide support to the Academic Mentors at the college, assisting with the training program, and meeting with the fortnightly to provide academic support and trouble shooting. Each Tuesday night I spend the evening working with the students during their "Tues2Study" night, where the dining hall is opened up for study. I help with learning skills, managing tasks, planning assignments, understanding the demands of the university etc. It is very rewarding, and a great way to keep in touch with the students' issues.

I was the co-convenor of the Monash University Transition Working Group (with Dr. Mark Peel), a body that sought to coordinate activities throughout the university to address transition issues. This has since been formalised as a part of the University administration structure.

Founding member of UNITRANS, a collective of university academics from Victorian universities involved in secondary to tertiary transition research and management.

Co-Editor of a special edition of the Australasian Journal of Engineering Education dealing with school to university Transition as it affects engineering education.

Elected as the School of Biophysical Sciences and Electrical Engineering representative on the Academic Board of Swinburne University, and a member of the special working party on Graduate Attributes.

At Curtin University I have represented the Sarawak Campus on all the major university committees:

University Teaching and Learning Committee (including a number of subcommittees)
Admissions and Matriculation Committee
Courses Committee
Curtin Business School Board
Common First Year Board
as well as regularly representing the Pro Vice Chancellor Curtin Sarawak on Academic Board, and the Vice Chancellor's Advisory Committee.

The Learning Support Network at Curtin University also invited me to participate in a number of projects and committees relating to the professional development work they do across the university.
