Learning Communities
Successful students are very often members of a "study group". Typically these groups are 3 to 5 people who study the same subject(s). They meet at least weekly mainly for academic rather than social reasons, and have a clear purpose and agenda for the meeting. Athough the group may also be a social group it is not always the case.
Experience across the world indicates that being a member of a learning community is one of the strongest indicators of success - particularly in university study.
The original intention is often to share the work load of the subject, but there are many important advantages to being in such a learning community. Meeting with a small group regularly allows the members to:
